people say the darndest things when they think no one is listening
It’s a problem I have that I often buy myself nice things and then don’t use them. Or I get nice things as presents, and don’t use those either - sheets and towels we received as wedding presents a year ago remain in their packaging. I found out last night my grandma had the same problem. When my Dad and aunt were cleaning out their parents house, they found sheets from the 1940’s or 50’s that had never been used - presumably nice sheets, that were now just reduced to scraps of fabric. Anyway, I told my aunt last night I have that problem too. I buy myself nice underwear all the time (on sale of course) and don’t wear it. As I was leaving for work today and my aunt and I were saying goodbye (she’s flying back to L.A. today), she said my wish for you is that you wear the nice underwear. Okay Jo, I will try.
Awesome.

I’ve been hearing a lot of people respond to Amy Winehouse’s death with “what a waste.” for some reason this has been bothering me. Was her life a waste? I don’t think so. Yes, it’s sad that she died. But that’s what happens to addicts if they don’t seek help - they die. A fact that some of us know all too well. I feel sorry for her family and their loss. I feel sad that she died. I feel sad that there are thousands of other addicts and alcoholics out there suffering and refusing to seek help. Sometimes life is short. Ultimately there is nothing anyone can do but take care of themselves. We are all powerless - but that doesn’t mean there is no hope. Many addicts recover if they are willing.
